Verner Björkfelt (Aland 1900 - Aland 1982) boarded twice on the Pamir as the Captain,

first from 1937 to 1941 until the seizure by New Zealand from Finland ( ) (4).

He took command again in 1949-1950 when restituted to Finland (). Along his career he first navigated aboard Aland islands coasters, then on the sail ships Thekla (), Else, Sviks, and Prompt (). In 1927, he joined the Erikson.company and served as officer aboard the Pommern. Throughout his carreer he passed 10 times the Cape Horn and commanded the following ships:
