It is an argentinian harbour on the bay of Bahía Blanca, with 280 000 inhabitants.

Its name comes from the white inflorescences left by the salt of the sea after evaporation.

The City was founded in 1824. The harbour exports wheat and iron ore. The Pamir put there in 1940 () and 1955 (), from Paranagua.
